Can you get sued by an artist for remixing a song!?

You won't get sued by an artist for remixing a song but the thing is that you are not allowed to monetize the song because you don't have full rights to the song. 
So, you can release a song but you cannot set it to monetize. If you release it on YouTube, The copyright owner will actually auto monetize it using YouTubes scanning system. 
It is completely okay to do remixes and release them. This is a strong strategy that tons of popular rappers have been using for years and years.
Often when a new hit song comes out, rappers jump on it and remix it in order to get some buzz from the records buzz and also give their fans something new yet familiar.
